Introducing The Great 100

By Made In Group
schedule21st Apr 25

In a time when the resilience of British industry has never mattered more, the Made in Group is proud to launch The Great 100 — an annual initiative spotlighting the people powering progress across UK manufacturing and engineering.

This isn't just another awards list. The Great 100 is a movement — a tribute to the changemakers who are strengthening domestic industry, championing local supply chains, developing future talent, and shaping a low-carbon future for us all.

Every year, we’ll recognise 100 individuals whose work exemplifies quality, innovation, and commitment to British industry. These honourees will be celebrated at an exclusive event in London, following our annual Parliament Reception — a unique moment where industry meets government to shape the future together.

Why The Great 100?

Because we need to shine a light on those doing the work — not just talking the talk. From strategic thinkers and engineers to educators, mentors, and operations leads, these are the people building a better industrial future.

Aligned with our broader Backing Britain campaign, this initiative will amplify the stories of resilience, sustainability, leadership and innovation at the heart of the UK’s manufacturing engine.

When times are tough? Keep Calm and Back Britain.

The Four Categories

• Industry Advocates – Policy-shapers, influencers, and industry ambassadors giving voice to the sector and fighting for its future.

• Made Futures – Educators, early-career champions, and mentors nurturing the next generation of makers, builders, and innovators.

• Resilience Drivers – Supply chain specialists and operations leaders fortifying the UK’s industrial backbone through smart, agile thinking.

• Sustainability Champions – Engineers and innovators embedding circular practices and green solutions into the DNA of British manufacturing.

How Nominations Work

Nominations are now open — but here’s what makes this process unique.

At Made in Group, we believe that the best way to champion the champions of our sector is to ensure their stories are seen, shared, and celebrated. That’s why our team will be using content published on the Made Platform as the primary way to identify and nominate manufacturing champions for The Great 100.

We do still provide a nomination form — and we absolutely want to hear about the unsung heroes and quiet achievers. If you know someone doing outstanding work but not shouting about it, let us know and we’ll engage with them directly.

But our core methodology has a purpose:

To champion those who are championing the sector — publicly.

That’s why we encourage everyone in the community to share their good news more often. Whether it’s about success, investment, innovation, resilience, or local impact — your stories matter.

And when those stories are told, they help strengthen the future of British industry.

“There are so many brilliant, diligent people within the Made community and the wider manufacturing sector who prefer to stay out of the spotlight. As someone who has worked in this space for decades, I’ve seen firsthand how many in engineering are natural introverts — logical thinkers who quietly get the job done.

While modesty is a noble trait, it can also mean our sector is underrepresented in the public eye. That’s why we’ve lined up 100 awards: to recognise a broad cross-section of talent, not just those with the loudest voices. We are actively encouraging nominations for individuals who are doing exceptional work but haven’t been celebrated publicly.

If we all begin sharing more about what we do — and what makes us proud — we’ll attract more opportunities, inspire future talent, and build a stronger national appreciation for the vital role manufacturing plays in the UK economy.”
